Five Self-Care Ideas for Busy Moms

When we think about self-care our minds typically go straight to elaborate spa days or expensive trips.

But self-care is really just about taking a few moments to do something that makes you feel good physically, mentally or emotionally. It doesn't have to cost a lot of money or even take a lot of planning to do something good for yourself. If you use my Morning Routine Journal method then you know how important it is to make the time for some type of self-care, whether big or small, every single day.

Here are 5 Self-Care Ideas for Busy Moms that you can squeeze even on the most hectic days.

1. Self-Massage

You don't need an appointment at a fancy spa to get a daily massage in. Try using a foam roller for 5-10 minutes every day for a quick, yet effective, way to release tension in your muscles and quickly feel rejuvenated.

2. Dance Party

You may not be able to party like you used to anymore, but that doesn't mean you can't bring the party to you. Create a fun and upbeat playlist on Spotify or Apple Music and crank it up. Jam out to 2-3 songs in the mirror like no one's watching for an instant pick-me-up.

3. Bubble Bath

I am currently obsessed with a good bubble bath with a bath bomb. After the babe has gone to bed, at least once a week I'll pour myself a glass of wine, light candles and grab a book while I soak in the tub. It feels like I'm on vacation for those 15-20 minutes.

4. Yoga

Confession: I LOVE hot yoga but have a hard time getting to classes because our local studio doesn't offer child care. It may not be exactly the same, but I love to pop on a YouTube video with a short 10-15 minute yoga session in the mornings to start off my day. Those few minutes getting centered and allowing my body to relax sets the tone for me to have a great day.

5. Face Mask

Face masks aren't just for teenage girls at slumber parties. Try doing a face mask a couple of times per week before bed, Throw on some cucumber slices over your eyes, light some candles and turn on some soft music for the full effect.
